Främlingsverket
School Project. 2nd Year.
Development Time : 4 Weeks.
Elevator Pitch : As Maja, a new employee at Främlingsverket, it is your job to talk some sense into the people working there and get them to rethink their outdated ways.
My Role
Programmer.
My main area of responsibility was setting up and programming all the animation trees in the game. I also programmed the character controller and helped out with the very arduous task of manually typing in all the dialogue text into the dialogue script.
Things that went right
It feels like the most complete game i have worked on and we as a team had a real fun time working together. It was appropriately scaled for the timeframe we had for the project and we were able to add in tons of small little details that really made the world feel lively. It also felt very polished and soild overall.
Things that went wrong
Although we had scaled the game pretty moderately given our timeframe, we had a few unexpected setbacks that forced us to cut out some things. We had an additional character for the player to talk to ready, but we didnt have the time to implement him. We also had bigger ideas for the ending that never came to be, so we had to make a quickfix instead.
Things that i learned
That you can never predict everything that might happen during a project and altough you think that you had set your aim at a realistic level, there are always things that will have to be cut.
